Tuition Fee Waiver and Reduction System

Under this system, students who are having difficulty in paying their tuition fees for financial reasons and who are recognized to be achieving excellent results in their academic work can apply to have half or a quarter of their tuition fees waived.

○     Those who are having difficulty with their studies for financial reasons (those from a household receiving public assistance or who are experiencing an equivalent level of poverty in their lives, which is recognized to be causing them difficulty in paying their tuition fees)

○     Those to whom one of the following has been applicable within the 6 months before submitting their application (or within the year before submitting the application, if the application is made in relation to tuition fees for the semester during which a new entrant entered the university)

  (a)     Payment of tuition fees is recognized to be difficult because the person responsible for paying them has died.

  (b)     Payment of tuition fees is recognized to be difficult because the person responsible for paying them is temporarily required to pay a large sum for medical treatment and recuperation will take a long time.

  (c)     Payment of tuition fees is recognized to be difficult because the person responsible for paying them has suffered an unforeseen accident, etc.

○     Those who are unable to bear the cost of tuition fees due to a natural disaster or other unforeseen calamity

Those for whom payment of tuition fees is recognized to be difficult because the person responsible for paying them has been affected by a disaster, such as storm or flood damage, earthquake, or a fire, within the year before the application is submitted and is required to pay a large sum to cover the cost of repairs

○     Any other student for whom a waiver is deemed to be a particular necessity

(Non-eligible Students)

Those to whom any of the following is applicable may not apply for a tuition fee waiver, even if any of the above apply to them.

○     Students who earned fewer than 20 credits during the previous academic year. (Excluding graduate students)

○     Students who were unable to move up to the next class (in undergraduate schools/faculties with no class promotion system, students who have earned fewer than 40 credits by the time they enter their third year)

(Application Procedure)

○     Students at the Kitagata Campus

It is necessary to attend a briefing session before applying. The application form will be distributed during this briefing session, so please submit the necessary documents within the application period.

○     Students at the Hibikino Campus

Please obtain an application form from the inquiries desk at the Student Affairs Division of the Academic Services Department Division II and submit the necessary documents within the application period.

(Important Points)

The timings given above are approximate. They may change, so please ensure that you always check university bulletin boards. New entrants are not required to prepare any documents before entering the university. A briefing session will be held after entry, so please attend the briefing session first and then assemble the required documents.
